(Sukuk.net - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The majority of members of the Iranian parliament agreed Tuesday to the sacking of Interior Minister Ali Kordan for submitting a fake PhD certificate.

A total of 188 MPs voted for withdrawing confidence, while 14 disagreed, and 45 did not vote on the issue.
The minister was accused of getting a fake honorary doctorate and lying to the parliament over his educational qualifications.

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) said Kordan had told the parliament that "he got an honorary doctorate from Oxford University in return for charity work." "But, the Oxford website did not confirm validity of the doctorate, IRNA added." The minister defended himself by saying that "the MPs must appreciate his services rather than the honorary doctorate."
