Kuala Lumpur, 14 April 2010. Kuwait Finance House (Malaysia) Berhad (KFHMB), the first foreign Islamic bank in the country, officially opened its second Currency Exchange outlet at the International Arrival Hall, LCC-Terminal (LCCT) at KLIA on 1 April 2010. The occasion was officiated by Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad Abdul Majid, Managing Director, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), who conducted the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Also present were Mr. Shaheen AlGhanem, Chairman, KFHMB, puan Jamelah Jamaluddin, Chief Executive Officer, KFHMB, Dato' Ahmad Zaki Abdul Razak, Chief Operating Officer, KFHMB, Dato' Azmi Murad, Senior General Manager, Operation Services, MAHB and puan Faizah Khairuddin, Senior General Manager, Commercial Services, MAHB.

Tan Sri Bashir in his speech, congratulated KFHMB for being the first foreign bank to make a presence at the LCCT-KLIA. He further acknowledged KFHMB as an important foreign investor, in attracting overseas visitors, particularly those from the Middle East into Malaysia via the LCCT-KLIA.

puan Jamelah in her opening remarks highlighted, "The Currency Exchange is one of the core businesses of our Retail and Consumer banking segment, which can contribute towards the growth of the Bank, by adding another source of revenue." Within the first week of operations, the Currency Exchange outlet at LCCT - KLIA which is operational 24 hours, had recorded 1,563 transactions. The first Currency Exchange is located at The pavilion KL, and a third outlet is scheduled to open at KL Sentral, end of the month.

KFHMB's Chief Executive Officer, continued to thank MAHB, and applauded the Management and employees for their recent achievements, "I congratulate Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad and Tan Sri Bashir for the recent accolades, during the Skytrax 2010 World Airports Awards, with KLIA winning the Best Airport Immigration Service and also the Staff Service Excellence, South East Asia category," she added.

In conjunction with the Formula 1 Grand prix weekend from 2-4 April, the Bank had set up a Currency Exchange booth at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) building. KFHMB was the only financial institution with a Currency Exchange counter operating at the SIC. Over the three-day period, the Bank recorded close to 300 transactions.

Another recent initiative in which the panches had embarked upon, was a roadshow conducted by the Klang panch at Jaya Jusco, and the KL Main panch at Etiqa Twins, Jalan pinang. The booths had generated a great deal of interest, and awareness of the products under the Retail and Consumer banking segment, as well as new consumer business to the Bank. Over the next few weeks, the same will be initiated by various panches at strategic venues.
